Mounds Park Academy Nordic Ski Team

In 1989, Joe Kordosky became the Athletic director of MPA and the development of the Nordic program began. He was instrumental in the formation of the Twin Cities conference which began in 1991. This was the first year of MPA skiing. The first coach was Randee Edmundson. She coached for a few years until moving to Africa. The next coach was MPA alumni Ginger Beattie. The team participated in the Twin Cities conference from 1991-1998, then the team joined the Tri-Metro Conference. Subsequent coaches included Tracy/Brock Lindberg, Renee Schaefer, Kevin Brochman, Laura Edlund,
and Rob Duijndam. Jerry Slater took over for the 2012-2013 campaign.
Minnesota State High school league skiing has also significantly changed. The first year of competition was 1976. There was only a classic race from 1976-1995. From 1996-1998 you could qualify in classic, freestyle or both. From 1999-2006 you could also qualify in classic, freestyle or both. If qualifying in both, you also participated for the pursuit format. From 2007 until present we participate in pursuit only.
